All Natural Allergy Remedies

When my patients come in with allergic type reactions to air born antigens like pollen and grass, I always prescribe Quercitin as my go to supplement.  Quercetin is one of the most abundant natural flavonoids that occur naturally.  These compounds have been shown to possess multiple biological properties including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity as well as the ability to increase mitochondrial biogenesis.  Quercitin is also known for its limiting response to allergic reactions. Quercitin possesses anti-histamine like properties so I recommend it to all of my patients during allergy season.  It works well at reducing the overall effects of the allergic reaction and the best part is that it’s all natural.

Besides working as a great supplement to curb allergic reactions, it has a lot of other great benefits to the body.  Some of these include giving you some of the same psychostimulant properties of caffeine without the side effects as increasing heart rate or blood pressure in addition to an increased oxygen consumption and endurance capacity in healthy participants and it also works as an antioxidant, rooting out free radicals within the body.  It has even been proven beneficial in preventing cataracts and reducing the risk of certain types of cancer and heart attacks.

In addition to Quercitin, I always recommend purchasing local honey from your nearest farmers market.  You just have to make sure that the honey is produced locally so that the pollen that you are allergic to is the same pollen the bees use to make the honey.  By digesting parts of the pollen, you can get your body accustomed to the allergen without getting the reaction.  Overtime, your body becomes used to the local pollen and you will normally see a reduction in your allergic symptoms.

Make sure you also keep good air filters in your air conditioners and home heating/air conditioning units.  In the morning when the sun heats everything up, the pollen rises.  When the temperature cools down and the night time moisture settles in, the pollen falls again and will get sucked into your air units which are why many people have their reactions in the early morning and right before bed.

You can also make sure that you are taking a good general immune system support and keep your body well energized with a quality vitamin regimen.  Lastly, proper manipulation to affected subluxed spinal areas in the cervical spine has been shown by research to greatly reduce allergy symptoms.  Although I cannot cure you from you allergies, I can definitely relieve your allergic symptoms and make you feel better when you have an allergic reaction.

Like most of my patients, by following these tips, you can finally have a summer that is not inhibited runny noses and itchy eyes.
